TERMS & POLICIES

Booking Process

In order to confirm your spot on a kayak expedition, we require a 20% deposit. Full payments are due 3 months before trip departure

Cancellation Policy

All payments are non-refundable. However, if you have to cancel a trip after submitting your final payment (within 3 months of trip departure), you should request a refund from your insurance provider. Depending on the situation, GC will be open to transferring your payment to another trip or season if your insurance is unable to provide the refund.

If Green Coast has to cancel the trip because of factors within our control – a full refund will be issued to all trip participants (along with a big apology!) – but that’s never happened so far.

If bad weather, which we would define as strong winds and dangerous sea state, impacts the trip departure/return date, we will do our best to reschedule transportation for the next day. Bad weather during the trip is just part of the experience paddling on the north west coast of BC.

Trip Insurance

We highly recommend travel insurance to all our clients in case they have to make a last minute cancellation. Most insurance policies will issue an 80% refund on the trip cost.

Arrival and Return Times

All trip participants should arrive on Haida Gwaii at least 1 day prior to trip departure. Arriving 2 days in advance is a much better idea, as the extra day allows for delayed flights or missing luggage. Expeditions leave every Saturday morning with or without your luggage, so give yourself a little extra time in case of delays. Do not make any travel plans on the trip return date because we cannot guarantee what time you will be back. Haida Gwaii is a remote location with highly variable weather conditions, so an extra time buffer for unanticipated circumstances is always wise.

Group Size

In order for a trip to be cost effective, we have a minimum group size of 4 people that applies to most expeditions. This restriction can be removed if all trip participants are willing to pay an additional fee.
